Foundation Receives Another New Piano
By Salem Catholic Schools Foundation
Salem Catholic Schools Foundation has acquired another piano. Sharon Reece learned how to play on this Lester piano that her parents purchased for her when she was a little girl. Her brother, Tom played clarinet and the two of them played at their church in 1964-65. Spinet pianos weren’t produced until after World War II and they were very popular because they didn’t have the tall backs on them.
Sharon and her new husband Greg are selling their homes in Salem and moving to Colorado Springs. They are very busy sorting through their belongings and finding new homes for their treasures. Sharon doesn’t play piano anymore; her beloved dog, Joey, won’t allow it. After seeing the article about our pianos for our schools, she knew we would find a loving Catholic school home for her spinet.
