The 3A Oregonian Cup Winner: Blanchet Catholic School!

Blanchet Catholic School has been named the OSAA Oregonian Cup winner for the 2014-2015 school year in the 3A classification. This is the first time in school history that Blanchet Catholic School has won this prestigious award.

 

The Oregonian Cup award is the highest award the Oregon School Activities Association gives out. This award is given to schools who possess excellence in academics, activities and athletics throughout the school year. The Oregonian Cup trophy will be presented to the school at an assembly in the Fall.

 

Blanchet received 2,412.5 points during the school year. St. Mary’s of Medford was second with 2,305.

 

The award follows a stellar athletic season for the Cavaliers:

 

  • Football - 1st Place (Across all Classifications) - 3.61 GPA - (State Semi-Finals)

  • Volleyball - 2nd Place - 3.79 GPA - (State Competition)

  • Boys Soccer - 4th Place - 3.67 GPA - (State Semi-Finals)

  • Girls Soccer - 5th Place 3.65 GPA - (State Competition)

  • Boys Cross Country - 3.74 GPA - (State Competition)

  • Girls Cross Country - 3.67 GPA - (State Competition)

  • Boys Basketball – 1st Place (Across all Classifications) – 3.88 GPA - (State Semi-Finals)

  • Girls Basketball – 8th place – 3.72 GPA

  • Cheerleading – 4th Place – 3.71 GPA

  • Boys Swimming – 6th Place – 3.40 GPA - (State Competition)

  • Girls Swimming – 12th Place – 3.61 GPA

  • Baseball - 1st Place (Across all Classifications) - 3.70 GPA – (State Competition)

  • Softball - 1st Place - 3.75 GPA (3A)

  • Boys Golf - 3rd Place - 3.68 GPA (3A/2A/1A) - (State Competition)

  • Boys Track & Field - 3rd Place - 3.56 GPA (3A) - (State Competition)

  • Girls Golf - 4th Place - 3.77 GPA (3A/2A/1A) - (State Competition)

  • Girls Track & Field - 4th Place - 3.63 GPA (3A) - (State Competition)

  • Boys Tennis - 4th Place - 3.51 GPA (4A/3A/2A/1A)

  • Girls Tennis - 6th Place - 3.68 GPA (4A/3A/2A/1A) - (State Competition)

 

"This is a great accomplishment for our entire Blanchet Catholic School community, and especially for Blanchet's student body," said Salem Catholic Schools Foundation President Kevin Mannix. "It reflects Blanchet's comprehensive approach to education: mind, body, and spirit. Our faith inspires our students in all aspects of life. It is noteworthy that the second place winner was another Catholic school - and we also congratulate St. Mary's of Medford."
